Dreams Conquer Doubts
I don’t typically subscribe to the traditional annual new year’s resolution routine. Instead, as with many small business owners, I take the end of Q4 as an opportunity to reflect on which avenues were taken over the past year—positive and negative—as I prioritize and plan new goals for 2022.
Three themes arise in my mind when I consider a fresh slate each year:
- Goals
- Dreams
- Doubts
Goals:
Goals are the foundation of every successful plan. Whether it’s a to-do list for the day or a multi-decade achievement in the making—like paying off a mortgage, goals consistently help keep us focused on our mission. When you’re clear about your goals, your ship will consistently sail on the path of productivity.
Dreams:
Dreams fuel the fire and passion of day-to-day business. If you lead a team, build in time to collaborate with them. Brainstorm together and learn which dreams motivate and inspire your team day-to-day.
If you’re a solopreneur, then you must be clear about what your dreams are. If you don’t define dreams for you and your business, who will?! Also, note that dreams are not a one-and-done project. They are ever-evolving. It’s essential to have new inspirational dreams ready when you face the satisfaction of achieving others.
Doubts:
Doubts often creep into the entrepreneurial equation at the most inconvenient times. Know that ALL of us have doubts that try to keep our dreams at bay. It’s okay to have doubts but don’t let them consume you. Just as light banishes darkness, dreams will always conquer doubts.
As you contemplate what next year has in store for you or your business, consider that it’s okay to have doubts. It’s okay to have concerns or fears. Bravery doesn’t require you to be unafraid. The important thing is to gain clarity on your dreams and ensure you have the right goals and planning in place to set you up for success!
